  • To prepare for discursive writing
  • To prepare for writing a character’s response to a dilemma

Example

Example 1:

The children could be Stone Age settlers sitting around the fire by their cave to evaluate the day’s hunting expedition to decide if it went well, or they may have a discussion about the need to move to a new dwelling place because of the lack of food in the area.

Example 2:

The children go into role as the residents of the street where Matilda (Roald Dahl) lives with her loud, uncaring parents. An emergency meeting has been called at the Town Hall by the Residents Committee to decide what can be done about Mr and Mrs Wormwood.
